Environmental assessment in the frame of UPCO2 program, that has the objective of reduce the energy consumption and the CO2 emissions in Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya buildings.
Conceptual definition of project, technical coordination and several specific works with some collaborators as: a) data obtaining about the installation systems of ETSAV building, b) Acknowledgement of management profile of school (equipment function at time), c) Occupation profile determination (number of people, space uses, schedule, etc), d) weather conditions evolution, e) building capacity of response analysis, f) determination of energy consumption reduction actions, g) implementation of planned actions, h) record and analysis of obtained results, i) new actions to be carried out and j) drafting an action protocol.
The first step was modify the heating system, adapting it to the real function of the building (identifying the hours in witch the occupation could be minimum or non-existent with the objective of schedule the system stops without concerning the centre operation and keeping in mind the exterior condition variations). Secondly, based on the obtained results and following the heating system, consisted in fit the building management and occupation profiles, from users opinion about comfort, uses, management, etc.
The consumption comparative of the period that had been done the actuation in relation to the same period of the last year, considering the weather variation and the acclimatised surface increases, It gives an energy saving of 28% and also a reduction of CO2 emissions.
