Barcelona's "Calle del Siglo XXI" is a model of urban transformation focused on sustainability, biodiversity, pedestrian mobility, and social inclusion, as exemplified by the Green Axes of the "Superilles" in the Eixample district. This design proposes to improve urban comfort, replace asphalt with more permeable pavements and subsoils, increase urban greenery, manage rainwater, reduce the carbon footprint of the construction solutions used, and promote the use of solar energy for lighting, among other actions to enhance the city's sustainability. This initiative, the "Superilles," was a winner of the 2025 New European Bauhaus Award. Societat Orgànica participated in this transformation by providing consultancy in the fields of outdoor comfort, the water cycle, and carbon footprint in three main areas: 1) Drafting the framework document for all participating teams: “New Model of Public Space for the Green Axes.” 2) The Consell de Cent Green Axis project, by Cierto Estudio and B67 Palomeras Arquitectes. This project received the Catalunya Manuel de Solà-Morales Urbanism Prize and the IX Arquia/Próxima Festival Award. 3) The urban redevelopment project for the new plaza located at the intersection of Consell de Cent and Rocafort, by 08014 Arquitectura.
