Digital Sustainability

We designed this website to minimize resource use associated with browsing (data transfer, device load, and server processing). For that reason, we prioritise content, structure, and performance: lightweight pages, optimised media, and no superfluous elements. Low-tech Magazine’s solar-powered website has been a key inspiration for this approach.

Circular IT

At societat orgànica, sustainability extends to the technology we rely on every day. Every desk is equipped exclusively with high-performance, refurbished desktop setups and monitors, allowing us to significantly reduce our environmental footprint without compromising on computing power.

By reusing premium hardware rather than purchasing new equipment, each workstation achieves an estimated average saving of:

• 650 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided — equivalent to driving over 3,500 km in a standard petrol car.
• 3,200 litres of water conserved — by avoiding the intensive water consumption associated with semiconductor fabrication and raw material processing.
• 1,900 kWh of primary energy saved — by preventing the energy-intensive extraction, refining, and manufacturing of new electronic components.
• 2,200 kg of raw materials preserved — the so-called “ecological backpack”, representing the hidden environmental burden associated with producing a new workstation from scratch.

Privacy

We respect privacy by default: we do not use cookies or other tracking technologies, we do not build user profiles, and we do not use advertising analytics tools. Visits are anonymous, and the content is not used for marketing purposes.

Renewable-powered hosting

This site is hosted on servers that operate with renewable electricity (according to the infrastructure/hosting provider’s commitment).
